Pre-K Counts is a program designed for children who are four-year old's on, or before, September 1st.  Students are introduced to school in an age-appropriate manner.  The program uses the Big Day for Pre-K curriculum, specially designed for early learners, encouraging them to explore and connect to the world around them.  
Each student will develop:
  1. Self-esteem, curiosity and independence
  2. An interest in learning
  3. Large and small muscle development
  4. Appropriate behavior patterns
  5. Meaningful spoken and written language
  6. Social skills, including cooperation and self-motivation
  7. An interest in the world around him/her
  8. Problem solving and thinking skills
  9. Phonological awareness
  10. Pre-reading and math skills
 
Currently, this is a grant funded program.  All families will be asked to provide proof of income which will be reviewed by the district office for program qualification.  Pre-K is a full-day program at both Rayne and McCreery Elementary Schools.  Transportation is provided and lunch is free to all students.  Applications are accepted at any time and are available by calling Taylor Aikens at 724-397-5551 ext. 1010.
